There was also this winter's first appearance of the wandering Barnacle Goose flock: c30 along with one Nene hybrid. 3 Curlew again at Lane End. c250 Lapwings. | 08/12/2022 | A nice surprise this afternoon was the return of (probably) the Great Northern Diver, off Lane End hide mid-afternoon. 2 adult Whooper Swans also dropped in and there were 3 Curlews on the shoreline. Female Shoveler still there too and a fly-by Kingfisher. By 16:00 the gull roost held c2,800 Common and 6,000 Black-headed Gulls, but very few Lesser Black-backs. 34 GCGrebes - they seem to be increasing slowly.
