AHS, CA.At the Brassington road junction near the Knockerdown one Barn Owl at 7:45am, from Stones Island this morning Great Northern Diver, Red Throated Diver, 2 Scaup, 1 Peregrine, Redpoll and Willow Tit plus all the usual waterfoul. The usual Barnacle Geese flock were in the fields where the pylons are , with Canada and Greylag Geese.17/01/2025

The Aythya hybrid again at sailing club. At least 104 Lapwing in total: 20 down, 30 S, 6 N and 48 flew in. 1 Woodcock at Millfields early morning. Adult Peregrine over the main carpark. The Great Northern and Red-throated Divers and the 2 Scaup still from Stones island. 49 Whooper Swans: 31 dropped in from the east at 11:35 while another 18 kept going W. 92 Pink-feet flew W and another 11 E. 33 Barnacle Geese. 7 Shoveler (5m,2f). 56 Teal around Stones/WLC. The regular Aythya hybrid and 43 Lapwing at sailing club. 62 GCGrebe from Stones. Kingfisher from WLC and later from Stones. 3 Fieldfare and a Meadow Pipit over Stones.11/01/2025

The 3rd-w Yellow-legged Gull still. Female Kingfisher in Brown Ale Bay again. 80 Starlings W up WLC creek. The Fieldfare at Sheepwash hide still. The adult female Peregrine at Shiningford then at Sheepwash. 410 Lapwing. 1 Curlew. 4 Ruff. 4 Redshank. 2 Dunlin. 5 Stock Dove. Raptors were enjoying the breeze: 8 Buzzards in the air, 3 Sparrowhawks, 2 Peregrine and a Kestrel. c350 Lapwing. 3 Ruff. 4 Redshank. 3 Dunlin. 1 Woodcock came into Penn Carr at first light. 2019-01-26The GNDiver still. At the Hopton end at first light, at least 5 (possibly 7) Woodcock, 6 Tawny Owls calling, 9 Grey Wag and 16 Reed Bunting out of the reedbed. Adult female and imm male Peregrine again at Sheepwash. Curlew at Sheepwash. 3 Greylag. 6 Goosander. 44 Common Snipe, 43 of them in a flock over Stones after being flushed from the sailing club end of the dam wall, along with c250 Lapwing. 3 Redshank. Adult GBbG. 5 Herring Gulls through. The 3rd-w Yellow-legged Gull still. 6 Stock Dove over Sheepwash. The female Kingfisher in BA Bay again (and had been on the pond left of Sheepwash hide earlier, I'm told). 2 Peregrines (adult female and imm male) playing around at Sheepwash and then both landing on the spit. 1 Fieldfare from WLC (first of the year, I think). 5 Meadow Pipit and 5 Lesser Redpoll on Stones.Simon Roddis

2019-01-20Monthly WeBS count: 3 Mute Swan, 17 Whooper Swan, 86 Canadas, 3 Barnacles, 9 Shelduck, 74 Wigeon, 32 Gadwall, 403 Teal, 91 Mallard, 89 Tufted, 11 Goldeneye, 9 Goosander, adult GNDiver, 15 Cormorant, 2 Heron, 25 Little Grebe, 39 GCGrebe, 5 Moorhen, 444 Coot, 407 Lapwing, 2 Ruff, 3 Dunlin, 3 Redshank, 28 Common Snipe, 1 Jack Snipe. JB had a Golden Plover over. Also the 3rd-w Yellow-legged Gull, 41 Rook, c50 Redwing, 4 Meadow Pipit. Regarding the Whoopers, 6 (including 3 first-years) flew in at 0935, so yesterday's 11 birds had presumably stayed overnight.Simon Roddis, John Bradley
