The verdict from the appeal concerning the proposed wind farm at Carsington Pastures has just come through today. It basically overules the intial decision by Derbyshire Dales District Council and gives the green light to the wind energy company to build their four turbines and associated infrastructure. After seeing the process and plans I feel even more strongly than ever that this was not the right decision. The following two sections explain the how the officer in charge came to his decision with regard to birdlife in particular and wildlife in general. I think it says everything about how little thought was given to these matters. Peter Gibbon, Chairman CBC. Inspector's Comments: Click Here for more information.............. |

For those of you who also visit Willingon Gravel Pits - Last Saturday during late afternoon/early evening a car parked just over the bridge at the top of the lane and thus quite close, but possibly out of site, of the main road had the back window smashed in by vandals etc. As a lot of birders now park near the fishermans entrance gate this may act as a warning to birders about their cars being broken into. This may be occurring again here because it is now a very popular birding site. from Rodney Key (DOS) |
