1 Barnacle Goose in with Canada Geese mid-morning at Wildlife Centre along with 2 Ruff, 2 Oystercatcher, 8 Snipe, and numerous redshank around Shiningford Creek. The GN Diver still, from Millfields early morning. One Hawfinch at Millfields, flew from the viewing area towards the carpark entrance. Sparrowhawk displaying over the west side. Imm male Peregrine over the WLC and perched for a few minutes in a tree behind Shiningford Creek. 500 Lapwing. 5 Ruff. 5 Redshank. 1 ad GBbG. The GNDiver was off Stones island late morning. 21 Cormorant. 400 Lapwing. 1 Golden Plover flew S. 5 Ruff and 4 Redshank around Stones/WLC. 1 Collared Dove flew N up the east side. 2 Raven. Pair of Mistle Thrushes in the field between Sheepwash and PS hide. 18 Meadow Pipits (16 on Watersports, 2 at PS hide). 15 Bullfinches: 8 at Millfields (7m,1f), 7 at Sheepwash (5m,2f). 40 Siskin at Sheepwash. 1 Lesser Redpoll on Stones.  Reported by: Simon Roddis on 18/01/2018

Monthly WeBS count: 1 GNDiver, 49 GCGrebe, 30 Little Grebe, 2 Grey Heron, 23 Cormorant, 4 Mute Swan, 69 Canada Geese, 2 Barnacle Geese, 173 Mallard, 243 Teal, 1m Pintail, 2 Shoveler, 62 Wigeon, 15 Gadwall, 117 Tufted, 13 Pochard, 14 Goldeneye, 624 Coot, 8 Moorhen, 653 Lapwing, 5 Redshank, 3 Ruff, 15 Common Snipe, 1 Kingfisher. This afternoon, the GN Diver off Stones island. 50 Siskin at Millfields. In the gull roost, c5000 BhGs, 1700 Commons, 250 Lesser Black-backs, 18 Herring Gull (11 down, 7 over), 1 ad Y-l GUll, 1 ad GBbG. 23 Cormorant. At Hopton end at dusk, 4 Tawny Owl calling, 3 Woodcock, 1 Water Rail, and at least 3 Common Snipe came out of the reedbed.  Reported by: Simon Roddis on 13/01/2018

All this morning: Water Rail showing at Hopton Reedbed 0740hrs (NB habitat works here programmed for Wednesday 18 Jan). Great Northern Diver still from Millfields. Female Stonechat still from PSHide. 25 Common Snipe (8 at PSHide+ 17 at WLC). Redshank and Ruff mobile around the shorelines. Imm Yellow-legged Gull and 1 GBbGull at Sheepwash. GNDiver still present. Female Hawfinch at Millfields, first sighting of the year as far as I'm aware. Black-tailed Godwit at WLC. A site record 17 Ravens flew over the dam wall at 0855; 15 of them kept going SW, the other 2 appeared to be a local pair who flew up to check them out and then returned to Blackwall plantation. Male Shoveler. 7 Goosander. 2 Grey Herons. Male and female Kestrel at Millfields. 900 Lapwing. At least 5 Ruff. 3 Redshank. 10 Common Snipe. Imm Y-l Gull. Small NE movement of Woodpigeons, 60 in total. 1 Skylark over. Total of 16 Willow Tits (7 Millfields, 3 Stones, 1 WLC, 2 Sheepwash, 2 Paul Stanley, 1 Hopton). The GNDiver still, from Sheepwash looking towards Millfields. Two unid'd divers flew south over the visitor centre area at 10:00 but carried on. Can't be sure what they were, but probably not GNDs. 2 skeins of Pinkfeet west: 180 at 0855, 100 at 1045. Female Peregrine bathing for about 5 minutes on the shoreline of Stones island. Rather her than me in these temperatures! 3 Ruff. 3 Redshank. 1 Dunlin. 1 Jack Snipe showing well at PS hide on the small flush of water looking diagonally left from the hide at 12:00. 350 Pinkfeet west in 3 skeins during the morning (6/1): 140 at 0855; 150 at 0945 (per PS hide logbook) and 70 at 1020. The GNDiver still, off Stones. At Millfields early morning, 3 Goosander; c5000 BhGulls and 12 adult GBbGs had clearly roasted overnight. Imm Yellow-legged Gull. 250 Lapwing. 1 Golden Plover over. 4 Ruff. 3 Redshank. The GNDiver still. 278 Teal at Sheepwash/BA Bay and the female Pintail still. Redhead Goosander at Millfields. 18 Cormorant. 250 Lapwing. 2 Ruff. 2 Redshank. 2 ad GBbG. Imm Yellow-legged Gull. Afternoon visit: the GNDiver was off Stones island. 150 Canadas. 550 Lapwing at Sheepwash. 4 Ruff. 1 Dunlin. 3 Redshank. 1 Linnet and 4 Lesser Redpoll on Stones. In the gull roost, c1500 Commons, 200 Lessers, 2 Herrings, 1 imm Yellow-leg and 1 ad GBbG.
